The bottom-ranked team has earned 7 points against three teams in the top 5 of the Premier League this season
Wolves faced Liverpool on March 3 in the 29th round of the Premier League. Surprisingly, Wolverhampton won the match 2-1 against Liverpool with a goal in the 92nd minute, putting them at 16 points, 11 away from safety.
This victory against Liverpool was preceded by another win against a team in the Premier League’s top five, in this case against Aston Villa, with a score of 2-0, and a draw against the Premier League leaders, Arsenal, 2-2 with another goal in stoppage time to earn Rob Edwards’ team a point.
Wolves only managed to pick up three points in the first half of the Premier League season and failed to win a single game, but the change of manager and the winter signings, as well as the sales, have given new life to the bottom club in the Premier League, who now have three wins and four draws in the 11 games they have played in the second half of the season.
Despite improving their form, survival looks very difficult for Wolverhampton, but their ability to get results against the league’s top teams gives them a glimmer of hope that they are capable of getting something out of any game, and if Nottingham Forest or Tottenham continue their poor run of form, survival could still be possible.
