Dallas offense roars back, but defense still holds the reins

The Dallas Cowboys reminded everyone of their firepower at the AT&T Stadium, cruising to a 44-22 victory over the Washington Commanders. When this offense clicks, few teams can keep up

Dak Prescott stole the show, throwing for 267 yards and three touchdowns without a single interception, marking a historic streak: four straight games with at least three TDs and zero turnovers. “It was fun, explosive. We know what we can do when everything comes together,” Prescott said after the game.

The return of CeeDee Lamb was a game-changer. Back after three weeks out with injury, he posted 110 yards and a 74-yard touchdown that had the crowd on their feet. George Pickens added 82 yards, Jake Ferguson scored twice, and Javonte Williams racked up 116 rushing yards and a touchdown — a complete offensive showcase.

Yet the question in Dallas remains: can the defense rise to match this offense? Against Washington, they made a statement with four sacks and a pivotal interception by Daron Bland, who returned it for a touchdown to seal the win.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer was clear: “Dak is playing at an elite level, but we need a defense that can dominate if we want to go all the way.”

The Commanders still managed 341 total yards and capitalized in the red zone, but the Cowboys showed improvement and a hunger for consistency, not just wins.

Next week, Dallas faces the Denver Broncos on the road. If the defense can maintain this intensity, the Cowboys could be one step closer to serious Super Bowl contention.
